Freespace Sensor Modules

Freespace® Sensor Modules integrate the Freespace MotionEngine, embedded on a microprocessor, together with off-the-shelf MEMS inertial sensors to offer customers a fully functional, ultra-compact, and ready-to-use module that is easy to integrate into in-air pointing and motion control products.

Freespace Sensor Modules offer:

  • Turnkey Solution: An integrated motion-sensing hardware and software system, including Hillcrest's Freespace MotionEngine and MEMS inertial sensors, to reduce the complexity of system integration
  • Small Footprint: Small footprint to enable flexible design of OEM products with the lowest possible bill-of materials cost

FSM-SI-2

The FSM-SI-2 is a low cost, battery-operable, thumbnail sized, fully calibrated Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). The FSM provides a simple, highly cost-effective solution for integrating accurate, multi-axis inertial sensing into a wide range of consumer and industrial applications, eliminating the complexity and investment associated with a discrete design.

This compact module contains state of the art MEMS technology comprised of a tri-axial gyroscope and a tri-axial accelerometer. Combining these sensors with the onboard Hillcrest Freespace MotionEngine Processor, the FSM-SI-2 provides precise real-time 3D orientation, calibrated acceleration, and calibrated angular position, as well as more advanced outputs such as cursor position and gesture recognition all through a standard SPI interface. 0.68" (L) x 0.75"(W) x 0.11" (H)

FSM-SENS-1

The FSM-SENS-1 is a Freespace Sensor Module providing access to MEMS inertial sensors and enabling motion detection and control applications. The FSM-SENS-1, when used with Hillcrest Labs' MotionEngine software, allows for the creation of in-air pointing and motion control devices for a broad range of applications, including pointing remote controls, hybrid 2D/3D mice and motion-sensing game controllers.

This module contains a tri-axial gyroscope and a tri-axial accelerometer along with individual calibration information and is designed for use with the Freespace MotionEngine running on an external host or processor. 0.75" (L) x 0.35"(W) x 0.097" (H)
