Hillcrest Labs licenses two products: HōME™ and Freespace®.
HōME
Hillcrest Labs' HōME Application Creation Platform combines the first graphical, zoomable interface for television with a patented motion control technology called Freespace.
HōME can be easily customized to match your brand and meet the needs of your applications. HōME provides a single, simple interface that enables digital content from any source to be displayed on a television, and it makes enormous volumes of content easily accessible.
Freespace
Freespace is Hillcrest Labs' patented in-air pointing and motion control solution. The Freespace solution includes everything necessary to design, develop and produce a world-class motion control device.
At the core of the solution is the Freespace Processor, which senses motion in six degrees of freedom, translates the motion into on-screen cursor movements, and provides advanced motion recognition to enable gestures for a variety of interactive applications.
Freespace is available to consumers and OEMs today in products including the Logitech MX Air™, the Kodak Theatre HD Player™, and the Dolphin remote control by Universal Electronics.
The Loop™
The Loop is a remote control developed by Hillcrest Labs for in-air pointing and motion control applications. Hillcrest Labs' Freespace technology enables the Loop to control a wide range of interactive applications through simple hand motions. The Loop's distinctive ergonomic design includes just 5 buttons and a scroll wheel.
The Loop can be included with any consumer electronics device with a USB port that supports Human Interface Device (HID) messages or mouse events. For companies that want to develop pointer or motion-enabled software, the Loop can also be used as an evaluation or development tool.
Reference Kits
Hillcrest Labs sells reference kits for HōME and Freespace. These reference kits can help you accelerate the development of new products.
HōME Reference Kit
The HōME Reference Kit (HRK) allows you to evaluate Hillcrest Labs' award-winning HōME platform, develop HōME applications, conduct field trials, and speed deployment of licensed HōME-based products.
It includes a digital media player (DMP), the Freespace-enabled Loop remote control, software that enables access to digital content stored on a personal computer, access to Hillcrest's broadband-accessible HōMEserver for On Demand applications, and documentation.
The Developer Edition of the HRK also includes a software development kit that enables you to build custom applications.
Freespace Reference Kit
The Freespace Reference Kit provides you with hardware and software tools to enable rapid prototyping of devices and applications using Freespace.
For hardware developers, the Freespace® Reference Kit dramatically simplifies prototyping and development of devices that can benefit from in-air pointing and motion control functionality.
For software application developers, the software tools included with the Freespace Reference Kit provide easy access to the Human Interface Device (HID) motion messages used to create Freespace-enabled applications.
